Today, the stock market isn't usually seen as something noble. It can make you rich, but most people lose. Aren't there a lot of shady companies listed? And why should I save if they keep printing money? When stock markets were originally conceived, at the end of the 18th century, they helped many workers and middle class people to share the boom of the industrial revolution. Instead of working from childhood to an early death, people could own 'a share' of productive assets and reclaim the fruits of their labour.
We believe that the stock market is heroic and a force for good. But we need to decentralize it at the core and put the investors back in charge.
